Sol: Three Periods Of Career Development

1. Fantasy Period (Childhood, up to age 11) - During this period children engage in playful acts, want to become what S/he heard from their parents and society. Stereotype occupations such as Police, Docter, Teachers, Sportspersons, etc. Children transform playful simulation to work simulation near the last of this period.

2. Tentative Period (Adolescence, 11 to 17) - In this stage children are able to better focus on and recognize work requirements. There are four subparts of this period which are given below:

(i) Interest- Here S/he learn likes and dislikes,

(ii) Capacity- where a child learns how much her/his abilities with her/his interest.

(iii) Value - This step sees a child aware of how work may fulfill her/his values.

(iv) Transition - The Last stage of this period the person begins assumes responsibility for his/her own action, becomes independent and exercises her/his freedom of choice.

3. Realistic (Adulthood, 17 to 20) - In this period the person set up alternative paths in her work life, or a backup plan. Throughout this stage S/he will develop personal values and begin to zero in on her optimal vocational choice. There are three subparts of this period which is given below:

(i) Exploration: The Person chooses his/her occupational path but remains open for other chances.

(ii) Crystallization: The Individual more serious towards the path which S/he follows and wants to seize it with long term

(iii) Specification: S/he performs or develops a preference for a specific area of her occupation.
