Here are the research methods with examples:
In a case study, there is an in-depth study of one person, group, or event by observing the person or event for a long period of time. After that, the researcher records the information.
An example of a case study is Anna O. whose story was written in the book of Breuer with Sigmund Freud called "Studies on Hysteria".
An observational study is qualitative research which is carried out by planned and careful recording. The main aim of observational research is to figure out and describe one variable or more than one variables.
Example: Suppose there is a researcher is trying to find out the effects of eating home-made food has on health.
A survey is all about self-collected data. In this research, random samples of subjects are collected.
Example: The researcher collects opinion polls or consumer surveys to know about the subject.
This method is practised by taking mathematical data about the subject to learn about certain things of culture. This method is really useful in predicting the behaviour of a certain group of people.
Example: If the researcher tries to find out how many times the teacher has used a particular word to describe a student's behaviour
