I need another answer about what do you think of antibiotic resistance, do you support mandatory curbs on antibiotics in animal feed, even if it raises the cost of food, support your decision
Antibiotic resistance is harmful for human health as it makes the bacteria capable of resisting the antibiotic medicines and leads to dangerous health issues. When we consume antibiotics, the bacteria that are sensitive to the medicines will die, but few bacteria that are antibiotic resistant would stay. Later they may multiply into many and cause infections that are very difficult to treat with the antibiotics available. When we consume more antibiotics, we have the chances to have more antibiotic resistant bacteria in our body. Hence we should consume antibiotics only to treat the diseases caused by bacteria and should not be used in any other circumstances without the physician’s advice. But many people use antibiotics in their farms to kill the bacteria in the animal intestines and reduce the chances of business loss through the death of animal from bacterial infections. But this habit is affecting the human health as the antibiotic resistant bacteria grow multiply in those animals and contaminate the meat and other animal products. The bacteria may also affect the environment and spread to the fruits and vegetables that are fed with this contaminated water. Animal poops also spread the bacteria. The person who handles or consumes those animal products gets infected. Hence the chances of spreading antibiotic bacteria are more through use of antibiotics in animal feed even after taking adequate care for not using antibiotics through medicines. If we spend little bit more for antibiotic free healthy food, we can save more in future from the healthcare costs that may arise from the antibiotic resistant bacterial infections. We are concerned with our health than the cost of the food and I would support mandatory curbs on antibiotics in animal feed, even if it raises the cost of food.
