You are the HR director of Brew421, Inc. a gourmet coffee retailer with 30 stores located throughout the Midwest. You oversee 15 stores and more than 200 employees and you've been asked to serve on a corporate task force assigned the responsibility of drafting a social media policy that addresses Brew421’s primary areas of concern. The following concerns were raised at task force meetings: • Customers ‘friending’ and ‘following’ employee’s social media accounts. Brew421 wishes to avoid liability for any posts made by its employees. Brew421 also wants to ensure maintain Brew421’s hard earned good reputation. • While Brew421 has strict policies prohibiting supervisors and subordinates from dating, there is nothing prohibiting coworkers from dating (and Brew421 doesn’t want to create a blanket policy prohibiting coworkers from dating). Brew421 wishes to avoid any liability for social media posts by employees that are romantically linked (or romantically severed). • Rumors have recently circulated that some Brew421 locations are considering unionizing. Brew421 wants to ensure that its social media policy does not amount to an unfair labor practice under the NLRA. In preparation for an upcoming task force meeting, prepare a paragraph (not less than 10 sentences) that addresses Brew421’s concerns. Special note: You do not need to re-invent the wheel for this assignment. A lot of great social media language is readily available on the internet and you are permitted to use it. However, be sure to tailor what you've located to the assignment set forth above - a simple copy and paste job will not do. Further, you must cite your sources.
