Servent leader and COVID19 pandemic situation

Humanity is undergoing an unprecedented crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. Organizations have adopted remote working as part of their work culture. Servant leadership may be the most suitable style of leadership during these transition times. Servant leadership is concerned with protecting the employees in an organization and creating a safety feeling in their minds. This style of leadership is given emphasis to leading with empathy. The following are some of the measures that a servant leader could take to deal with the pandemic situation.

• Leaders must make an effort to listen to the concerns of the employees working in an organization.
• Time must be allowed for employees to adjust themselves with the new way of working.
• Leaders must provide all required support to the employees to move to the new style of working.
• Leaders must encourage the initiatives of employees during the pandemic period.
• More autonomy has to be given to employees to do their duties.
• Employees must be motivated to acquire new skills and knowledge during the pandemic period.
• Leaders have to communicate things openly with the employees.
