Introduction
Sexually transmitted diseases are that which are caused due to sexual contact via the serum and semen and gets transferred from one individual to another.
These include chlamydial infections, gonorrhea, herpes, AIDS, human papillomavirus (HPV), syphilis etc
Most of them remain assymptomatic for a longer period of time.
The prevalence of STDs are about 20 million new cases per year in United States.

Facts that are unknown about STD and the most common factors responsible are:
1. Young women are more vulnerable to STDs as they are biologically prone.
2. Most youngsters have more than one partner for sexual contact
3. Improper sex education to adolescents
4. Inadequate facilities for diagnosing and testing STD infections
5. Unhealthy childhood and insecure living environment
6. Lack of awareness about STDs and illiterate about the use of contraceptives
