In this unit, we discussed how communications can change over time. In your personal or professional life, can you recall something communication-related that’s changed for you?

Granted, that’s an easy one for those of us who are old enough to recall only having landlines and no internet, but things change so quickly, chances are good you’ve had some adjustments as well.

For example, has your main social media presence changed?

Is there something you used to do daily that is no longer part of your life?

Do you see any trends that we might see spreading in the near future?

In my experience when I touch with many of my junior school friends, telecommunications like Skype and Facebook brought them back to me. Although virtually but I am in touch with each of them now. So over time, this ability was given by the change of communications, over a period of time.

Things have changed a lot in the past decade which has given us the capability to make the communication easier. The presence of mine was on G-Mail previously which evolved the Due application for internet-based video chat and then the live chatting option via Hangout. Hence this fulfills my needs. However, I have also made some changes to make political expressions via Twitter which is specifically meant for a larger audience of the day.

The use of Writing Mails physically has been changed to connect with others as the Hangout has come. So for the semi-formal interactions, I have changed the previous mailing into Hangout messaging to enable quick and fast reach. So the mailing is no longer that big a part of my life now.

The trends that I may predict for the near future is a virtual communication which can engage one or many as needed via various apps across the globe in real-time. This is happening and it is going to grow. Hence the trends of virtual media shall grow and would be adopted as well.
