When you eat a candy bar, the sugar is absorbed into your blood, and as a result, insulin is released to lower your blood sugar. This is an example of:
a. negative feedback because the response amplifies the
change.
b. positive feedback because the
response amplifies the change.
c. negative feedback because the
response opposes the change.
d. positive feedback because the
response opposes the change.
e. positive feedback because it has
a positive outcome and is beneficial to body homeostasis.
Answer ------ (C)
Negative feedback because response opposes thd change.
When we eat a candy the sugar is absorbed into our blood and this turn increases the level of the glucose in the blood which disturbs the homeostasis.
Homeostasis is the body mechanism to maintain the stable internal environment with in the body and it has tendency to resist the change.
Homeostasis occurs or maintained in body by two feedback loops that are negative feedback loop that opposes or counter attacks the stimuli from which it generated and so called negative feedback and positive feedback loop amplifies the stimuli and making reaction forward so making the condition ultimately stable and by this homeostasis is maintained.
Homeostasis is maintained in the body at many level.
When ph changes , temperature changes , any different environment at every stage homeostasis is maintained.
Now the conditions in the question is the example of the negative feedback mechanism in which response oppose the change because in it maintained only in case of normal physiology conditions.
It means when patient is suffering from diabetes this negative feedback loop is broken ,let see in normal conditions.
When you have taken the candy the level of glucose gets increased into the blood and so the homeostasis is disturbed and as a response the releases of insulin get triggered from the beta cells of the pancreas and then insulin makes the muscles and fats cells to take that glucose from the blood and also force the formation of glycogen from glucose and so level of glucose gets normal in blood and by this the secretion of insulin secretion gets low from the pancreas making the homeostasis and this is the example of the negative feedback.
In positive feedback the response amplifies the change means when homeostatis is disturbed or when body needs any functions the response increases or supports the change and process goes on.
For example this is seen during the delivery of the baby when babys head puts the pressure on the cervix which the canal part of the uterus , then due to pressure on cervix it sends the signal to the neuron in brain which in turn increases the released of the hormone oxytoxin which makes the more uterine contraction which increases pressure on cervix and this increases the more release of oxytocin and more contraction till the delivery is done.
So this is the positive feedback mechanisms in which response amplifies the change.
So the statment A and D are wrong they dont exist and B is not according the example given in the questions.
So.the right answer is C and rest all are wrong.
