What is the broad ligament? What structures are within it?
In a male,
What is the spermatic cord and what is its path? What structures are within it?
ANSWER -
IN FEMALES :
BROAD LIGAMENT :
It is a double layered mesothelial cell sheet. It's location is sides of uterus (medially), into the side walls of pelvic region.
broad ligament is divided into e components they are Mesometrium(largest portion of this ligament),Mesosalphinx,Mesovarium.
Functions of this ligament is mesentry for the uterus , ovaries and the uterine tubes. Helps in Position balancing .
Mesovarium is mesentry to the ovaries in females.
Mesosalphinx is the mesentry to the fallopian tube of female.
IN MALES :
SPERMATIC CORD :
This is a cord like structure in males which is formed by the vas deferens and tissue surrounding runs from deep inguinal ring down to each testicles. This cord helps in the additional role in supplying blood to the testicles.
STRUCTURES PRESENT IN SPERMATIC CORD :
Spermatic cord have VAS DEFERENS, TESTICULAR ARTERY, PAMPINIFORM PLEXUS OF VEINS, CREMASTERIC ARTERY, TESTICULAR ARTERY, DEFERENTIAL ARTERY, SYMPATHETIC NERVOUS SYSTEM, LYMPHATIC VESSELS.
PATHWAY:
Cord starts from the deep of inguinal canal
then it enters the scrotu.m through the superficial inguinal ring
and then it goes into the scrotu.m
and ends at the posterior part of the testes.
