The body organs that should be evaluated for such a situation include -

  1. ‘Hypothalamus and Parathyroid gland - The hypothalamus guards the function of parathyroid gland and release of parathormone and calcitonin which regulates the level of the serum calcium levels.
  2. Renal system - Kidney is the organ of excretion. It is responsible for the excretion of all the solutes and solvents in the human blood. Calcium is also excreted similarly. Vitamin D levels should be assessed.
  3. Gastrointestinal tract - Complete evaluation of GIT should be done for checking the absorption and excretion of the calcium ions in the gastrointestinal tract from food and into the faeces. It should include the assessment of each and every organ starting from the main tract including the accessory organs.
  4. Bone density should be tested as bones are the store house of calcium and phosphate. Also the matrix in the bones and al out all the components are made of calcium and phosphates.
