Below are the right behavior and steps for creating and driving successfully a team -
1. Forming – This is the initial stage of team development where staffing is done and the team is formed. Team members get introduced to each other. The key interpersonal behavior includes formal greetings, excitement and anxiousness on roles and responsibilities within the team, looking for guidance etc.
2. Storming – This stage involves team members getting clarity about their roles, sharing their opinions, trying to establish their individuality and authority over others etc. The key interpersonal behavior includes expressing individuality, complaining against others etc.
3. Norming – This stage involves understanding of team dynamics, exchanging and respecting views of one another to conduct meaningful discussions etc. The key interpersonal behavior includes ignoring differences, respecting views of others, trying to be more meaningful
4. Performing – This is the final stage where team members are in perfect sync with one another after resolution of differences and work together towards team development and deliverables. The key interpersonal behavior includes effective communication, increased productivity, focus on work, helping and supporting one another etc.
