Q. What are the most common mistakes in implementing Lean?
There are four common mistakes that companies make while implementing lean methodology.
1. Short term approach : lean is an approach that is extremely beneficial and improves the overall processes if followed correctly. Companies tend to forget the processes improvement which is what this methodology calls out for.
2. Lack of support : it is a change that must be supported by management at top level to be successful. Just signing it off on a piece of paper is not gonna be enough.
3. Resistance : employees have to go through this change as well. While some may follow it conviction ,others may not be as curious ,which leads to lack of involvement. It requires that all levels and employees are involved.
4. Training difficulties : since this is a change ,management may face some hiccups in Trainings which would prevent an effective implementation since lean philosophy requires that employees are trained to follow the new practices and approach.
All these mistakes leads to failure in implementation of Lean methodology.
