1. What is the duration of the critical path? Please show me step by step on how you were able to solve this. I WANT TO KNOW IN DETAILED STEPS ON HOW YOU DO THIS, I HAVE NO CLUE/HAVE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THIS.

Activity Duration Predecessor
A 2 Start
B 4 A,E
C 6 A
D 3 B,C
E 7 Start
F 2 E
End - D,F

Solutions

Expert Solution

`Activity column represents the activities to be carried in a project. Predecer column shows the activity which should be perforemed earlier against the activity. Say Activity B 3-4 can be started only after activity A and E are done. Activities A and E are the first activities to be perfomed. 2-3 is dummy which do not have any time. First 1-2 activity A and 1-3 activity E are started. Later activity B started which has preceded activites as A and E. 2-4 activity C preceds activity A and 4-5 activity D preceds activity B and C. 3-5 activity F preceds Activity E 1-3.

Now, after forms whole project. Paths need to be identified.

1-2-4-5 is first path

1-2-3-4-5 is second path

1-3-4-5 is third path

1-3-5 is fourth path

1-2-3-5 is fifth path

Now total time for each path need to found out

1-2 = 2 , 2-4 = 6, 4-5 = 3, 1-3 = 7 , 3-4 = 4, 3-5 = 2 , 2-3 = 0

Using above , find total time for each path

1-2-4-5 = 2+6+3 ( 1-2 =2, 2-4=6,4-5=3)

= 11

1-2-3-4-5 = 2+0+4+3 (1-2=2,2-3=0,3-4 = 4, 4-5=3)

= 9

1-3-4-5 = 7+4+3 (1-3=7, 3-4=4,4-5=3)

= 14

1-3-5 = 7+2 (1-3 =7, 2)

   = 9

1-2-3-5 = 2+0+2 (1-2= 2, 2-3=0, 3-5= 2)

   = 4

Amoung all paths, Path which has longer time is critical path. 1-3-4-5 = 14 is longest and crititcal path)
