What is your idea of “Enjoying the Ride” at the workplace?
"Enjoying the ride" generally means instead of worrying about the destination, enjoy now, what's happening at the moment. Although it is not different in the workplace either. If your company is doing good (financially) and you are getting the benefits out of it, then look at that as a positive and go along instead of looking into deeper aspects like revenue and cost margin. For me its always about the journey and not the end. Although it might be too much of a cliche, that's how life is, and that's how your work life is. We as individuals take things seriously and tend to bring the joy or frustration of work back with us home.
I have made sure that I enjoy the small things at the workplace like small talks that I have with my colleagues or small appreciation that I receive from my colleagues for my help on some projects. Those are the things that would be remembered and not the money you were making because mostly nobody tells the truth when it comes to the pay they get.
For me “Enjoying the Ride” is the feeling that I get when my name is announced as the best performer. The satisfaction I get when I deliver the training sessions for new joiners. Although it is not always about the positives. Along the way, you will get feedbacks for some mistake that you might have committed or there might be a complaint raised against you for not delivering the project deliverables as per expectation. These are all part of the package called "Work-life". You have to make sure that you do not think about it too much and move forward.
