The first category of factor leading to the workplace health and safety are physical in nature. Effective identification of work related health risks and hazards and systematically mitigating, eliminating and minimising their impact, should be the priority of the company. The physical factors include exposure of employees to toxic substances, risk of injuries,air quality, workplace design, physical fatigue, ergonomics, noise and risk of workplace violence.

Other category is related to the organisational culture. These factors include employee motivation, involvement in decision making, work life balance, future prospects of employees, recognition of their efforts, training and development,communication between the levels, employee satisfaction, conflict resolution and overall work culture.

The third category is the support from the organisation to promote the health awareness and wellness programs. This includes gymnasium at workplace, stress management, prohibition of tobacco and alcohol, health screening facilities, general workplace hygiene, provision of healthy food etc
