Why do employers hate the idea of unions organizing at
the workplace?
What causes a bad relationship between unions and an
organization?
The basic motive behind the formation of the unions is that they stand for the cause and the demands of the employees of the organisation. They make sure that the employees and the labors are not exploited by the employers in any way and that the legitimate demands are met properly.
The organisations hate the idea of the formation of the unions because it forces them to be in a bargaining condition. They have to listen to the demands of the unions and sometimes those demands are so harsh that the organisation even has to suffer losses because of those demands but if the demands of these are not met then these unions may collectively harm the goals of the organisation. The relationship can be sometimes adversarial. The unions may organize strikes and lockouts so that their demands are met.
The lack of understanding, the lack of proper formal communication, the rigid policies of the organisations , the harsh and the exploitive goals of the organisation, the low wages, poor working conditions, all the factors are responsible for the bad terms between the union and the organisation.
