1. Mass Media is a very creative field, which is facilitated by the ever-evolving technology. As a result, this industry is also rapidly pacing. In this kind of the industry, the role of a leader is the role of a facilitator. Servant leadership is the most suitable form of leadership in this industry. The servant leader works in participative style and encourages every member to come up with inputs and state his or her opinion. This way, creative instinct of employees is encouraged, thus facilitating the performance of the overall industry.
2. Organizations that are able to constantly change and adapt will succeed. This is indeed true for an evolving industry like mass media. In such an industry, an authoritative leadership will indeed kill creativity as for a creative instinct to grow and evolve, it needs free space and autonomy. Authoritative leadership tells the employees what to do and what not to do. It sets boundary and limits for to the innovative process, which gets trapped and thus dies eventually. Hence in this kind of industry, which is changing and evolving, the best form of leadership is servant leadership or participatory leadership. Servant leadership takes into account, all opinions of the group. Hence each individual is given the opportunity to work on his creative instincts and prove his merit.
