1. Many employees, especially in certain cultures, find it almost unethical to try to give feedback to a boss. For them, their job is to perform as expected, and not to tell the boss how to create a better metric. As a manager or leader, how would you resolve this potential problem?
2. Some would argue that when employees develop their own metrics, they make those metrics biased towards the employees' performance. This could be a problem if the leadership does not trust the metric. The problem also can go in reverse. A metric could simply be out of touch from the employee perspective. Class, how can an organization resolve these potential conflicts? If you are the leader, what would you do?
3. One thing that every line manager will agree upon is the fact that line employees have the most experience and understanding regarding the challenges of the production line. After all, if you are literally the person who makes certain things happen in a production, you are quite aware the challenges that you are facing daily. If you, as a manager, were given the task of collecting this information from line employees and then using that information in a way that would be valuable to the company, how would you collect it? What would you do with that information once you collect it?

This problem can be resolved by taking the employees into
confidence and adopt participatory approach in certain decisions of
the organization. The management or leader of the organization must
always considered the opinion of the employees while taking all the
essential decision in the organization. There are certain aspects
in any job in which the employees are well informed of the
situation at ground level and hence the management has to use their
own wisdom and consider the situation at the ground level and then
they have to come at the final conclusion of what to do.
Answer 2
As a leader of the organization, I would resolve this potential
conflict by considering the view point of the employees while
making the performance metric. It is extremely important to
consider the viewpoint of the employees before deciding the final
metric. In certain situations including their opinion while making
the metric would be beneficial for the organization. The leadership
in organization should also trust the metric because it will give
them the report of actual performance of the employees in the
organization.
Answer 3
The information would be collected by me by involving two important
factors. One factor is to look at the employees and observe their
work and collect as much as information as possible from
observation. The second factor is speak to be employees regarding
the information is to be collected and including their views
regarding information. Once both the factors have been taken into
account while taking the information the proper report will be
prepared and the appropriate decision needed in order to achieve
the efficiency will be implemented as early as possible.
