1. Give an example of negative feedback system in the body and how it works.
2.What name is given to all chemical reactions that occur within body cells?
3. Why is it necessary to be in a pressured cabin when flying at 30,000 feet ?
4.What process allows us to adjust to either extreme heat or cold?
5. When we begin to get dehydrated , we usually get thirsty, which causes us to drink? Is this a negative or positive feedback control system? explain.
Answer 1 :)
Insulin glucose feedback system:
Due to hunger, if we eat carbohydrate rich food, it increases glucose level in our bed, which directly senses by insulin secreting cells and hence release insulin to lower down the glucose level. At the time when adequate glucose is converted into glycogen, the glucose level starts to decrease, which stops insulin secretion. It is the case of negative feedback.
Answer 2 :)
There are two types of chemical reactions found in our body: anabolism and catabolism. The metabolism is the collective term of anabolism and catabolism reactions. Therefore, the answer is metabolism.
Answer 3 :)
At high altitude, blood pressures is decreased to a significant level i.e. 8.89 inch Hg or 0.3 atm. Therefore, it is necessary to be in a pressurized chamber that maintains 1 atm pressure.
Answer 4 :)
It is a negative feedback mechanism of our homeostatic. This helps in increasing and decreasing our body temperature.
