Explain the relevance in language acquisition and development in children of Story elements that reflect the fear of separation
When there is excessive fear and anxiety of separation from a parent figure or significant other ,the child could be diagnosed with Separation Anxiety Disorder(SAD).Because of which there is stress and changes in the brain and hormones.
Language deficits have 3 different dominion.They are
The amygdala increases in its functions ,suppressing the activities of the cognitive centers which directly impacts communication.They have very poor verbal memory when compared to the same age developing children.
Recent studies have shown that memory and language are closely associated .Hippocampus know to regulate emotions ,has taken the center stage in this study.It was found that hippocampus helped in memory associations.It acted as a router thus linking all the memories.
A child with SAD thus has problem with all the 3 different dominion while telling a story as there is no relay of memories by the hippocampus and the impairment of amygdala.The child finds difficulty in using the correct grammatical words,makes phonological errors and uses inappropriate phrases or sentences.The child has greater problems in communicating too .
There is a strong relevance of language acquisition and development of language in children diagnosed with SAD.These go hand in hand.
