Nearly 71% people of the world use social media at least once per day which has become an integral part of people's lives. People use various mediums like mobile apps or computer web browsers to access their social media accounts regularly. Despite the mounting threat of data leakage and invading privacy by social media platforms, the number of social media users are increasing rapidly. Now-a-days due to easy availability of internet and accessibility to social media platforms from smart phones, every person has one or more accounts on social media platforms. The emotion behind get in touch with friends and families and to share user generated content like videos and photos play dominant role for the increasing numbers of people on social media. Social media platforms come in the form of forums, blogs, microblogs, business network, photo sharing platforms, chat apps, dating apps, gaming, social networks etc.   Since the launch of Facebook, it has become one of the topmost leader in terms of reach and scope where more more than 2 billion people open their accounts every month. According to a survey, nearly 86% people use their social media accounts once in every day and 75% use it multiple times per day. Social media allows people to manage and accomplish their regular activities by enabling them to communicate and maintain their relations with friends and families, discuss politics, bringing awareness, look for events, sharing their photos and conducting other businesses. Even social media has become income grounds for some people by writing on their blogs, posting videos and photos etc on facebook, instagram, youtube etc. It has become easy for people to make friends with strangers from different parts of the world. In the age of globalisation where people have lost the real touch of human, it is the social media platforms which allow people to get connected with people to release their stress and anxieties by communicating with people. These are some of the reason behind increasing numbers of social media users.

Though there are many advantages of using social media platforms, the effects of using social media are of serious concerns. Though it enable people to communicate easily and remain in touch with people, there is less emotional connection among users which often result in social media bully and abuses, trolls etc which is a grave concern as it affect victims mentally and physically also. Social media gives people the licence to abuse and hurt people as there is no face to face communication among users. There are also the less credible news which are circulated on social media to create panic and misunderstanding among people. There are many instances where many people were lynched and killed due to false news. People feel disconnected in families as there are less interaction among family members due to the increased use of social media. Lack of emotions, human touch, face to face interactions etc are hardly seen in many families which lead to divorces, juvenile delinquencies, lonely old people etc. Besides, the fear of missing out (FOMO) feelings among people force them to do things which are beyond their imaginations. People spend lots of money to post photos just to show and get likes on social media to proof that they have the most blessed lives. Besides children are the most affected due to the use of social media as it creates laziness. Instead of playing and running around, children are seen glued to their social media accounts which are the cause of many health issues and incompetence. Many children have low self confidence due to lack of real face to face interaction.
