1) What are the three layers of the heart? Briefly
describe the three layers of the heart.
2) Describe the pathway of blood from the heart to the
lungs (Pulmonary Circulation) and from the heart to the different
bodily tissues (Systemic Circulation) and back to the heart
a. You must include all the chambers of the heart
(Atria and Ventricles), all the valves (ex. Tricuspid Valve, etc.),
and all the necessary vessels (ex. Pulmonary Artery, Inferior Vena
cava, etc.)
ANSWER :
1. There are three significant layers of the heart; endocardium (inner most lining of the heart), myocardium (thickest layer composed of cardiac muscles), and pericardium (outer most thin layer of heart functions to protect heart from external abrasions).
2. The pathway of blood from the heart to the lungs (pulmonary Circulation) and from the heart to the different bodily tissues (systemic Circulation) & back to the heart :-
Right atrium > Tricuspid valve > Right ventricle > Pulmonary semilunar valve > Pulmonary artery > Lungs (oxygenation of blood) > Pulmonary vein > Left atrium > Mitral valve > Left ventricle > Aortic valve > Aorta > Systemic arteries > Arterioles > Capillaries (exchanges of blood components between the plasma and interstitial fluid) > Venules > Systemic veins > Inferior vena cava & Superior vena cava > Right atrium of heart.
