Expert Solution

Respiration is the enzyme controlled biological process of oxidation of food material inside living cells withbthe help of molecular xygen producong CO2 ,H20 and releasing energy which is stored in the form of ATP.

It is the Catholic process involving exchange of environmental oxygen and body va4bon dioxide and in which oxygen is utilized for the oxidation of food molecules with the help of respiratory enzymes to release energy which is stored in the form of ATP.

Acid base balance is the homeostatic mechanism of regulation of acidity or alkanity of extracellular fluids for normal functioning of body. Acid base balance is maintained by various buffers, renal and respiratory system. Amino acids and blood protiens function as main biological buffers. When acidity in extracellular fluids rises, amino acids combine with H+ ions therby lowering the pH and thus acidty . When alakanity of extracellular fluids rise, amino acids and protiens react with OH- ions bringing pH to normal levels. Carbonic acid and bicarbonate ions are another major buffers.
