Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become a critical consideration for global businesses. This course discussed two main approaches to CSR: • identify and describe the approach to CSR that best represents the approach taken by some of the world’s leading companies, in terms of their CSR performance; • Select one of these companies (that has been identified as a global leader in CSR performance) and outline some of the activities and business approaches that have contributed to its reputation as a responsible global business.
CSR
The purpose of corporate social responsibility is to give back to the community, take part in philanthropic causes, and provide positive social value. Businesses are increasingly turning to CSR to make a difference and build a positive brand around their company.
Example of a Compnay with best CSR : Lego
Tag Line : Together, we can rebuild the world
The Lego Group is on the top 10 list of the most reputable companies in the world for CSR. The Danish brand already has a steady and strong presence as it builds a coherent story-line with its values of sustainability, education and societal contributions. Most recently, they replaced their plastic materials with plant-based plastics from sugarcane; one more way the company has pushed their CSR values.
At the LEGO Group, they are playing their part in building a sustainable future and creating a better, brighter world for the children to inherit .Together, the LEGO Group, the LEGO Foundation and UNICEF empower children to become creative, engaged and lifelong learners through play.
Environment Initiatives
Sustainable packaging
Aim by 2025 all LEGO packaging will be made from renewable or recycled materials, will be made as efficiently as possible, and will be easy for consumers to recycle.
Reducing CO2 impact
Strive to reduce the CO2 emissions from making LEGO bricks. We do this by increasing carbon efficiency and investing in onsite and offsite renewables.
Don’t let it go to waste
Strive to reduce the amount of waste generated from our operations, and by 2025, our ambition is to ensure no waste from any LEGO factory, office, or store will reach landfill. We aim to do this by both reducing waste and increasing how much we recycle
At headquarters in Billund, Denmark, we eliminated single-use coffee cups by introducing a washable LEGO cup. This saves one million single-use cups a year, reducing waste by eight tons annually. In 2020, we plan to roll out re-usable single-use cups across all our facilities globally.
