Effective communication is the foundation of effectiveness and efficiency. It is the only way in which the superiors and subordinates pass on the information. Better communication also leads to a better delegation process. Companies should focus on efficient communication so that the subordinates know what superiors expect from them. However, there are many barriers to effective communication. The first factor is the use of jargon. Sometimes, the superiors use the technical language to address the subordinates. Most of the time, the employees fail to understand. Hence, it bars the communication process. The second important factor is perception. The employees or subordinates already form a terrible perception of the speaker. Hence, they are unwilling to listen to the speaker, and thus, it is the barrier to communication. The other factors or barriers are lack of trust, lack of attention, any disturbance, emotional barriers, and lack of interest of the receiver. All the above factors act as hurdles to the process of effective communication. There are many ways to overcome the barriers of communication.
The first is to communicate appropriately. The speaker should speak understandably so that the receiver correctly interprets the message. The second solution is to avoid the use of slang. Slang is the short form of words and sentences that people use in their daily lives. The employees should avoid using slang informal communication. The third solution is to attract the audience. The speaker should know the tactics to attract the audience so that he/she can inform more and more people. The speaker can use presentations and graphs for the same. The ultimate solution is to ensure proper feedback as the superiors should ask for feedback from the subordinates to ensure that the communication and message were up to the expectations. Hence, the company should identify the barriers and solve them effectively.
