An example of a lead that can be encountered when scheduling work activities to build and decorate a model home is that procurement of material for decorating the home can start simultaneously with designing and construction of model home. There are a lot of fittings and decoration items required for the new home and rather than waiting for the home to be completed, the procurement activity can start simultaneously as well which will help in saving time.

An example of lag activiy is that, during painting of walls, second coat of painting cannot be applied unless first coat of primer has dried. This creates a slowdown in the whole process as the second activity cannot be started unless first activity is completed and limits the whole process.
