For management it is good to show to client that the manager they have hired is very skilled and efficient. But if your manager is the most skilled person of the project than that may create lots of problems for the company. Problems like:-

You cannot keep the manager away from the work for long
Your critical work will completely dependent upon that manager
In reality, you will have insufficient team or less efficient team
In any case your manager will leave your organization than your client will also go with him/her
There is huge possibility that the manager is overloaded with the work and his/her efficiency will get hampered because of that
If you not cross train your team members, than may be not in present but in future you as management will face lots of problems

In today’s world where the competition is so high you cannot depend upon one person. You need to have multitask force in your company who can manage different task and your manager’s activity will be only to manage those people not performing the activities.
