Biopsychology
Why is it important that students of psychology understand the biology of the human body? Relate the particular biological components to the understanding of key psychological issues. For example, what does biopsychology have to do with the concept of the individual's perspective of an event or life in general? Give a detailed answer.
Face perception, behavioral patterns, mental disorders and many such other aspects find root within the biological model of psychological theories. Whether it be the Structural theory wherein the structural changes within the brain impact the psychological functioning of the brain.
The genetic theory wherein the genes inherited impact the psychology of an individual or the biochemical theory wherein the biochemistry (neurotransmitters) impact the psyche of an individual.
If there is an abnormality (increase/decrease) in a particular neurotransmitter, it could lead to a depressive or anxious attitude within an individual, which would lead to a more pessimistic outlook towards life in general.
Or the structural changes within the hypothalamus or the amygdala could lead to an affect on the emotional responses (even bipolar) that could lead to an inherent different affect in perception of emotions and reaction to other peoples emotional reactions.
Biology is an important facet to have a more well rounded and well informed comprehension apropos to the psyche of an individual, without which the study of human behavior would be like an incomplete home work assignment.
