(Answer) Developmental psychology entails the analysis and tracking of development in behaviour and cognition through progressive stages that an individual might undergo. Developmental psychology was mostly about monitoring the psychological progress of a child. However, the field is now applicable to any individual who makes behavioural and cognitive progress despite their age.

When a student generally studies human anatomy, psychology or other medical sciences, it is essential for them to solve as many case studies as possible. These case studies work like training wheels in giving them the experience and acclimatisation they require, without actually practicing. Similarly, when a student works in a developmental psychology lab, they would essentially be watching live case studies. This would enable them to learn from heuristics and get acclimatised to the field and what they might face as professionals.
