1) The world tourism organization i.e.UNWTO is the United Nations specialized agency responsible for the promotion of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism. It is the leading international organization in the field of tourism, which promotes tourism as a driver of economic growth, inclusive development and environmental sustainability and offers leadership and support to the sector in advancing knowledge and tourism policies worldwide. It serves as a global forum for tourism policy issues and a practical source of tourism knowledge.
2)Tourism is the act and process of spending time away from home in pursuit of recreation, relaxation, and pleasure, while making use of the commercial provision of services.
3) Inbound tourism is when a person from his/her home country travels to another country for not less than 24 hours and not more than few months.The purpose of the travel is mostly leisure and very seldom for business. For eg:- when a person travels from United Kingdom to France, then he/she becomes an inbound tourist for France.
4) Outbound Tourism is the activity of travelling to a foreign country by the residential citizen. It can be for many purposes like visiting friends and relatives, Medical and health solutions, leisure & pleasure, business, academic or learning purpose.When a resident of a country crosses the border of his native country and travels the foreign land, this activity of residential tourist is seen as outbound tourism of that country.
5) reasons for growth of tourism : -- Better/Quicker Air Travel- Making Previously Remote areas accessible, More Paid Holidays where people tend to take many small holidays rather than one big one; Increase in amount of Disposable income- People can afford to treat them; Awareness of attractions- People are becoming more aware of travel from travel shows and advertising; 2 working parents ; Smaller families, Longer life expectancy etc.
6) Conditions that promote tourism include :- good weather, beter condition of world economy, terror free,big events like Olympics , favourable exchange rate etc.
7)Tourism impacts :-- environmental impacts such as affect the carrying capacity of the area, vegetation, air quality, bodies of water, the water table, wildlife, and natural phenomena. Socio cultural impacts are associated with interactions between people with differing cultural backgrounds, attitudes and behaviors, and relationships to material goods. The introduction of tourists to sensitive areas can be detrimental, cause a loss of culture, or, alternatively, contribute to the preservation of culture and cultural sites through increased resources. Economic impacts are usually seen as positive, contributing to employment, better services, and social stability. Cultural education may also be improved, which can be overlooked. Yet these impacts can also contribute to high living costs within the community, pushing out local businesses, and raising costs for local residents.
