The use of social media as a marketing tool is only suitable for developed countries. It is not an effective tool for businesses in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) such as the Caribbean.” provide detail point agreeing with the statement and disagreeing with the statement.
Social media has a huge number of
registered users that serve as the target audience for the
marketers. These target audience presented at different social
media channels, can belong to different countries and geographical
reasons. Here, the change in countries affects the success rate of
social media marketing. In this regard, different arguments are
also given about the success of social media marketing in developed
countries as well as SIDS countries.
As per the statement given
in the problem, I agree because:
The SIDS countries lack the necessary IT infrastructure and the
presence of advanced internet technologies that are very important
for the social media marketing. Since, the technologies as well as
internet is not stable, or readily available, social media
marketing is not an effective tool. Besides, Social media marketing
is used to attract the audience that are present in the far away
places in the developed countries. A social media marketing drive
in Caribbean countries or other SIDS countries will not be able to
attract an audience of their own nations due to their real exposure
to the destinations, lack of purchasing power and priority of other
requirements among the consumers. It makes social media marketing
to be less successful in SIDS countries.
As per the statement given in the
problem, I disagree because:
A SIDS country has businesses that have the target audience in
different geographical areas. Here, social media marketing is an
effective medium to reach out to the new audience and generate
leads for the business. Though it requires a small investment to
build internet infrastructure, but it is a very cheap, efficient
and affordable marketing tool. It reaches out to those in different
countries also where the internet and social media is readily
available. It makes an increase in the success rate of the social
media marketing. Hence, social media marketing can be considered as
a lifeline in terms of the marketing tool for the businesses in the
SIDS nations.
