What do you feel are the main communication differences between men and women? Give two examples for each.

In my opinion, the main communication differences between men and women includes the differences in expressing emotions during communication and the amount of words used while communicating.

Women mostly express their emotions while communicating than men and cannot hide their feelings. But men are experts in suppressing emotions. Most of the men do not express their feelings and we cannot make it out from a men’s communication style that whether he is desperate, happy or angry. For example suppose you are the boss and you have promoted a man and a woman in your team to higher position. There are high chances that the woman would express her happiness at the moment she hear the information, but the man would treat the message like an expected one without being over excited. Consider another situation where a manager scolds his subordinate. If the subordinate is a male employee, he would listen to the scolding and later get back to his work as before. But at the same time a woman employee may express her feelings by crying or showing signs of desperation and would take some time to recover and get back to work.

In my opinion women would use more words to explain a problem than men and would take more time to explain the same. Suppose your colleague is fired for integrity issue like password misuse and you asked another male colleague regarding the issue. Mostly the man would tell you only the fact that he was fired for password misuse. But at the same time a woman colleague may tell you the entire scenario that led to the situation. This happens because women are more careful in explaining and want the listener to get the exact picture without guessing. Consider another scenario where you are told to buy scissor while coming to office by your colleague. If a man tells you to buy scissor he would just request you to buy, but if a woman is in need of scissor, she would explain you the reason behind buying scissor and then request you to get the same.
