Do you think it is fair that there is a wage gap between men and women in the workforce? Do you feel the gap is narrowing?
Answer: no; this is not fair. This indicates “wage discrimination”.
Men and women engaging in same type of jobs should not be differentiated in wage payment. Basically, men are getting higher wage than women.
Suppose a male supervisor gets higher salary than a female supervisor. This happens because it is assumed that males can supervise better than females – a man is stricter than a woman. But the actual fact is not like that – both can be equally stricter.
Therefore, this gap of wage is injustice to women and should be stopped at once.
Answer: yes; it is narrowing.
As per the recent study (year 2018) in the US job market, a woman is getting on an average 84% what a man gets. It was around 62% before the year 2000. Therefore, the gap is narrowing from (100% - 62% =) 38% to (100% - 84% =) 16%.
This is remarkable and it happens because of the changing look and thinking of society – people start believing on equality, but no more male domination.
