A 25 kg suitcase is being pulled with constant speed by a handle that is at an angle of 26 ∘ above the horizontal. If the normal force exerted on the suitcase is 170 N , what is the force F applied to the handle?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Given that mass m = 25 kg , Normal Force N = 170 N

   From Normal Forces F sin θ +N = W

                                     F sin θ + N = m g

                                F sin 26 0 + 170 N = 25 kg * 9.8m/s2

                                Fsin 26 0 + 170 N   = 245 N

                                   Fsin 26 0 = 245 N - 170 N

                                                    = 75 N

                                         F = 75 N / sin 26

                                               = 75 / 0.438

                                                  =171.08 N
