the difference between traditional vs. collaborative leadership styles and then give your opinion on each leadership style. Finally, relate the leadership styles to your country context.
Leadership is considered to be a very important aspect in organizations because it is the leader who is the most important and responsible individual based on the performance of the organization in the industry. Due to the changes in doing business and the way of doing business there has been a change in the style of leadership from the traditional and conventional style and the leadership that is exhibited today is considered to be the collaborative style of leadership. The differences between these style of leadership are:
1. The traditional leaders believed that power is something that came from the authority of the position of the leaders but in collaborative, the leaders considered that the power is within the team itself.
2. Ownership of data and information was maintained solely by the leaders in the traditional approach but in the conventional approach the team is given ownership.
3. The leader is the one who formulates ideas and solutions in the traditional way but in the collaborative the whole team is involved in the process and they brainstorm and come to a solution.
4. Performance evaluation of an employee is done based once in a year in the traditional approach and the leader is the sole responsible individual in the conventional approach instant and continuous feedbacks are provided by the leaders to the employees.
I believe that the collaborative approach is a better option today because the level of competition is very high and employees need to be engaged in activities in the organization so that they feel valued and important in the organization as they have other options as well.
In USA I believe that the collaborative approach is the most popular and used style of leadership although there is traditional way of approach too in various instances because there are organizations which use this style and there are organizations which use both the style of leadership that depends on the individual leader in the organization.
