1) The “I can’t believe it’s not meth” (ICBINM) diet company has now expanded their business model to include the energy drink market! The label on the can says that consuming one serving of the drink (the entire can) will keep you alert and energetic for 7 hours, guaranteed! As a sleep deprived college student, who has multiple tests coming up, you are excited about this claim. Before investing in several cases of ICBINM drink, you and the rest of your statistics class decide to test the company’s claim. Each person in the class purchases a single can and gives it to a randomly chosen LU student. They then record how many hours that student is alert and energetic before suddenly collapsing to the ground unconscious. The data (in hours) is below. Using BOTH a 95% confidence interval AND a one-sample t-test, determine whether the company’s claim seems to be true or not. Make sure you show your work and explain your conclusions step by step in both statistical language AND plain language so that anybody would understand what you conclude about the company’s claim.
