how can technological advancement and modernization affects and bring changes to a country's cuisine.
Describe the cuisine of Canada by citing some distinct characteristics. what did you like most about their cuisine and why?
Ans) 1)Technological advancement and modernization can affect and bring several changes in a country's cuisine.
With advanced technology a large variety of kitchen appliances are made available to enhance the quality of the food and prepare it in a quick and efficient manner. This technology can also help in retaining the nutritional value of the fruits, vegetables and meat used in making the dishes.
Technology can also help in enhancing the shelf life of the food product. It also increases safety of the consumer as processing and packaging becomes more efficient and there is less risk of contracting any illnesses. Using machines also makes the food affordable as it lowers the production and storage cost.
Modernization brings about greater awareness among the consumers educating them to adopt a cuisine which contributes to enhancing their health and be affordable at the same time. Thus modernization and technological advancement go hand in hand in affecting the cuisine of a country.
Modernization provides a twist and refreshing change to the cultural cuisine of a country making it more suitable for the modern age with increasing nutritional benefits and a changed palate appeal.
2) The Canadian cuisine mostly contributes towards providing consumers with delicate yet rustic, melt in the mouth meat dishes. Their cuisine includes several kinds of meat ranging from lobsters and prawns to beef and pork. They also focus a lot on the speciality cheese in their cuisine which includes cheddar, cottage cheese, goat cheese, parmesan and cream cheese.
Their most iconic dishes comprise of poutine, smoked salmon, bagels, butter tarts and pierogi usually dressed with lots of maple syrup.
The Canadian culture is described as progressive, multicultural and diverse. The distinct characteristics of the Canadian cuisine reflects its culture as the cuisine is seasonal, multicultural, dependent on wild foods and regional dishes.
The Canadian cuisine focuses on the ingredients and how they complement each other rather than maintaining and following recipes. No traditional indigenous food in Canada is cooked following a recipe. It all depends on how every ingredient tastes with the other.
what I liked most about the cuisines is how easy it is to replicate the dishes in your own kitchen. The ingredients are easily available, the dishes are easy to make and do not require long procedures or intricate details to be taken care of. Any dish in the cuisine is basically difficult to spoil or fail in making.
The fact that each simple dish too tastes like made in a restaurant is what I love about the Canadian cuisine. if you have different tastes and preferences you can always use different combinations in the dishes. The bold, smoky flavours of the meat require minimal work for your mouth as the meat, of all kinds, just melts in your mouth.
