In regards to politics, what are some ways of identifying and assessing novelty?
In politics, novelty does not necessarily have to relate to the state of being new. Rather, we can consider reforms to represent novelty and a state of bringing better considerations to the front. We can identify and assess political novelty through the following considerations:
Recognition of prevailing trends
After performing a historical analysis of the necessary factors, we
can determine if a trend is present, such as a political party
being dominant after each successive election.
Internal and external impact
The changes brought forward in the form of any reforms and studying
its impact on both the internal and external environment of the
government and any efforts to bring reforms to the current
laws.
Researching based on the target group
Utilizing a target group and referencing the changing variables
before and after any significant change is introduced in the system
can provide an objective view for novelty.
On the basis of structure
Novelty can be assessed on the basis of ideas and structure as well
since the considerations can be made on the basis of superficial
ideas vs a presence of structural pattern.
