Bruce Lincoln's four domain of religion are discourse, practice, community and institution. With reference to Islam these are as follows-
1. Discourse- it relates to the source texts which is the Quran and the authentic sayings of The Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. The Quran is considered the word of God and the authentic sayings of The Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him is considered Hadeth. The Hadeth are an commentary to the Quran they complement to the Quran they can never contacted the Quran.
2. Practices- these are traditions and specific actions which are done by the Muslims. All the Muslims believe in five basic principles and practice them in daily life. The first is called the tohid which is the Oneness of God and believe in the last and final messenger Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. In the second is is believed that all the Muslims must perform prayer five times a day in congregation at mosque. The third is that every Muslim should pay at least two and half percent of their wealth as a charity if it is the above 85 grams of gold lunar year. The Fourth is that it is compulsory for every Muslim to perform Hajj at least once in a year if he's having a reasonable saving of money. fifth is that every Muslim should fast for the entire month of Ramzan for a time of 30 days.
3. Community- association with people who share the common belief. The Muslims around the world share common belief regarding the Oneness of the God and the last and final messenger Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. They believe that it is compulsory that every Muslim should offer 5 times player in the nearby mosque and stand shoulder to shoulder irrespective of the person who is rich or poor in order to make the feeling of universal brotherhood prevail among one another.
4. Institution-Every Muslim acknowledges the holy day which comes twice an year which is called as Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Adha. Muslims around the world celebrate the Eid by offering prayer in congregation in large gathering and during the Eid ul Fitr they give Charity to the poor people and during Eid ul Adha they give sacrifice of animals and distribute the meat to the poor and needy who cannot afford expensive meat.
