Islam recognizes Jesus and Moses. Does this mean that Islam respects other religions? Why or why not?
Muslims donot believe that the jesus is the son of God but muslims revere Jesus as an important prophet. We know that christainity is the major religion around the world. Many muslims dont celebrate christmas as a religious hoilday, but many American muslims celebrate it as a cultural reasons.
The Islam and Christainty were born in the middle East and linked to each other. While christainity was born from within the Jewisg tradition, Islam developed from boyh Christainity and Judaism. The Quran specifically protects moses and christians as Peoples Of the Book, where "Book" revelations from God that moses and christians which gives tham a spiriyual connection to Islam.
The major reasons why muslims revere Jesus are:
1. Jesus, Mary and the angle Gabriel are all prominent characters in the Quran.
2.Muslims believe that Jesus was a prophet of God and was born to a virgin, mary.
3.One entire chapter in the Quran is in the name of Mary, which is the only chapter of female in the Quran.
4. Muslims recite "peace be upon him" after evey time they refer to jesus by name.
5.Muslims believe that Jesus has done miracles, even Quran discusses several jesus miracles like raising the dead, healing leprous people, giving sight to the blind etc.
Moses is the most important prophet in Judaism.Moses considered as a prophet and messenger in Islam, is the most frequently measured individual in Quran for 135 times.
