Expert Solution

Grunt test was created by Donald Miller, the founder of storyboard in order to evaluate the website. The essence of the test is if you showed your website for 10 seconds only to a person who is not at all familiar with your website or even say computer, will that person be able to tell what your website does just by looking the homepage.

The purpose of this test is to establish whether you are likely to get success with your website or not (This isnt the sole parameter for it but it is one of them). In today's times with so many options and less attention span if you are not able to pass this test means there is a high chance your site will fail.

A person watching your site for 10 sec should be able to answer the following 3 questions:

1. What does the website do?

2. How will it make the person's life better?

3. What do you need to do to get started?

Here is an example of website Cashify.in which likely passes the grunt test. The site has a tagline which clearly tells what the site does.

In the bottom it quickly tells you can sell, repair, recycle, buy an old phone and other items on the website. It makes your life easier by making selling easy for you.

How to start can be done by simply clicking on any of the button of what you want to do on website.

If you find that everyone you test passes the posture test (perceiving that they have perfect posture) you need to go one step farther. Observe the person in everyday activity. How does the person stand while waiting for something? Does the person slouch? Is the person tilting the pelvis or rounding the shoulders? Perfect posture is quite rare; be sure your assessment is thorough.
