One of the most important things that affect people’s life is the culture in which they live. People who live in materialistic and individualistic societies seek to maximize their pleasures and wellbeing without worrying about forming a family or bearing children. This would mean that people would like to utilize their resources to maximize their own selfish needs. Although it has brought more damage to the society in terms of broken families and children who struggle without both the biological parents, the decreasing trend in marriage is not a surprising thing. This is because of the fact that people would seek to improve their economic conditions without proper savings due to their expenses both necessary and luxury. This would mean that they would always feel that they are not ready yet to shoulder responsibilities. Besides the culture and social make-up helps people fulfil their sexual needs and emotional needs without the need for marriage. However, government can do little in a capitalist economy as it would hurt its budget although it would lead to serious human resource decline and pose a great threat in running the economy itself because of the shortage in labour.
