Organelles are small and numerous because of the following reasons:-

  • Energy needed for metabolism will become greater with increase in size.
  • Hence most of these energies made within the organelle will be self utilized by the cell to maintain its functions.
  • So it is good to be small.
  • Also the entry and removal of different molecules will be easy with smaller size compared to larger sized cells.
  • Most of the energy is provided by these organelles, thus to maximize the the energy production, and meet various requirements of body- organelles are therefore numerous in a cell.
  • organelles are the ones that functions some critical metabolic functions , so inorder to meet tese energy requirement cell increases the number of organelles present in them.
