The given hypothesis explains the body weight of infants in two different geographical regions. The dependant variable in a hypothesis will be one which varies according to some other factors. These factors are called independant variables. Independant variables are cotrolled coditions given in the experiment. In the given hypothetical condition, the dependant variable is body weight of the infants. This is because, it is the one which is dependant upon various other factors like biological or psychological variables in the mother from the two different geographical regions. Depression , anxiety etc of pregnant mother could affect body weight of the infant. Likewise socio- economic status of parents also may affect the weight of infant. While comparing the two regions , african america and asian america the economic status is different. A well economic status of parents will contributes to the better health of infant, thereby the normal body weight will be resulted. But the unemployment in poor geographical areas will affect the weight of new born by nutrient deficiency. So the weight of new borne varied between the geographical regions which differ in socio economic conditions. This can be one reason explains the hypothesis given. There are some other factors also which cause the difference in body weight. In all the cases, body weight of the infant is one which varies and depends upon other factors. Thus weight of new borne is the dependant varible, which vary with other variables discussed here.
