define organizational commitment? how it is different from job satisfaction ?
Organisational Commitment is a Pschological component of the employees to feel attached to the organisation; This factor assess the attachment of the employees in one or more forms to deliver their obligations.
Organiational commitment shall be thru multiple modes - Affective commiment, Normative commitment and Continuance commitment;
Affective commitment comes thru the affection of the employees towards the organisation; This is a motivational factor and is generally observed when the employee is enjoying job satisfaction, progress in career, etc
Normative commitment is a mere obligatory feeling of the employees towards their job and the organisation;
Continuance commitment is an attachment comes with a sense of fear factor. The fear factor can be multifold interms of either job losing fear, performance appraisal related etc.
While Job satisfication is more important from the employee perspective, the organisational commitment is equally more important from employer perspective; The sucees or failure of the company critically deoends on commitment shown by the employees towards their organisation; This factor of organisation commitment is required to me continuously measured by the company thru various modes of interactions / Questionnaire mode etc with the employees to observe their regualr feeback.
