Patient Profile: Patient is 59 years old with a current weight of 240 pounds; BMI is 41 (5’4’’tall). She is sedentary (no physical activity whatsoever) and works a desk job. She had a stress test recently and everything was normal. She states that she participated in a walking program last year but had to drop out after 3 weeks because she developed plantar fasciitis. She also states that the walking was pointless because she did not lose any weight during those 3 weeks.
What would be the next focus for her regarding improving the healthcare evaluations? Why? Describe how you would approach this. That is, how would your exercise/ weight loss prescription look for this person?
1.approach to improve the health care evaluations:
her BP should be checked, Blood for lipid profile,Haemoglobin, also blood sugar and HbA1C, because of her age as well as her SEDENTERY job
2.Approach is to modify her lifestyle like diet changes and physical activities.
1. Diet changes:- as she is a sedentery work, her calorie intake can be reduced.
include more salads in the diet which helps in filled feeling as well as nutritious
more vegetables and fiber rich fruits
low carbohydrate diet
eat only three times
have plenty of water
2. Physical activities:-
insist on moving around after every half an hour
if possible walk from workplace to house or bus stops.
can chart time for yoga, floor excercises
3.This approach was done as she is not interested in walking also she has plantar fascitis
4. Prescription would be
- Daily 30 minutes of physical activities
- low calorie diet
-drink plenty of water
- monthly check for BP, weight, blood sugar
