Question #1: Vanessa notices that even though her 80 year old grandmother keeps her thermostat set at 80 degrees, she still wears a sweater in her house. When Vanessa asks her grandmother why, her grandmother tells her she is cold. Vanessa can't understand this and asks you for an explanation. What would you tell her?

Question #2: Tess is diagnosed with a disease that affects the membranes surrounding the brain. The physician tells Tess's family that the disease is caused by an airborne virus. Explain how this virus could have entered the cranium.

Question 1) Vanessa notices that even though her 80 year old grandmother keeps her thermostat set at 80 degrees, she still wears a sweater in her house. When Vanessa asks her grandmother why, her grandmother tells her she is cold. This is happening with Vanessa's grandmother because her metabolic rate is decreasing with age naturally.It is normal with age. The other contributing factors are Diminished circulation. Loss of muscle and body , various sorts of neurological disorders and their Inability to move fast enough to generate heat required by the body .

question 2) The airborne pathogen which is causing viral meningitis could've entered into cranium via blood crossing the blood-brain barrier . The patient must have suffered from the viral disease which then travelled into the brain crossing the blood-brain barrier as the patient got immunocompromised.

This way the airborne virus had entered into cranium and affected membranes surrounding brain and caused viral meningitis.
