In today's world advertisers rely on more social media and electronic media to reach their customers. This is a quick and cheaper way to advertise - but is it invasive? Do you think the abundance of emails, phones calls, and text messages along with threads on social media are just today's version of snail mail and land line phone calls? Something we have to get used to - deal with? What are your thoughts?
My thoughts on this topic are that use of social media and electronic media for the purpose of advertising is certainly invasive. This is due to the fact that despite many controls and checks quite a few advertisements tend to intrude the viewers thoughts and privacy. Not only are the online and digital advertisements and commercials invasive and intrusive they are also appearing in more places now.
Yes, the abundance of emails, phones calls, and text messages along with threads on social media are just today's version of snail mail and land line phone calls. We will have to get used to them and deal with them in a manner that does not affect us too much. Many of the ads on social media are irrelevant and hence tend to be annoying. Presence of too many ads and irrelevant ads causes inconvenience for the viewers and viewers can use technological tools to block these ads. Viewers get the option of not seeing a particular ad again, specifying that an ad is irrelevant. Tools like ad blockers can be used. Ad blocking software can be used by viewers as well. Viewers can also make use of filter list.
