Use the picture above to answer the following questions.
33. How many different bones are involved in this joint? (note the picture represents ONE structure with 2 views).
34. Which labeled items represent the dorsal aspect (back/posterior) of this joint?
35. Of the labeled items which is not on a/attached to a fossa?
36. Of the labeled items which anchor/attach on a fossa?
Given pictures are showing shoulder joint.
33. Shoulder joint is made up of 3 bones- humerus, clavicle and scapula.
34. B,C and D represent the back aspect of shoulder joint. It can be identified by the spine of scapula which is present on posterior side.
35. Structure D which is teres minor muscle does not attach to any fossa. It originates from lateral border of scapula and inserts into the greater tuberosity of humerus.
36. Structure B (supraspinatus) and C (infraspinatus) originates from supraspinatus fossa and infraspinatus fossa respectively which is present in scapula.
Also structure A (subscapularis) originates form subscapularis fossa on scapula.
Structure D is teres minor, which does not insert into any fossa.
