There are advantages and disadvantages to the change management models. some of the theories and the limitations are -
a) nudge theory; is a behavioral science where it says positive reinforcement and indirect suggestions may influence the behavior. Normally used in government sectors.
limitations-
-Simplifying the change force to ignores the theoretical approaches.
-looks into long term goals and in between short term goals are being ignored.
-It changes according to t the political attractions
b) bridge transition; It helps to understand how the people will feel and react to the change in the organization.
limitations-
-Only focuses on the human transition
-factors other than humans are being ignored
-It is an abstract approach
c) Satir change model; It says people tend to cope up with unexpected stages of life.
limitations-
-It believes that people do best of their ability to cope up with the unexpected change
-Not beneficial to everyone as people differ from each other
-There is no conclusive empirical support and it lacks effectiveness.
d) Maurers three-level resistance; says there are stresses that act as the reason for the failure to manage initiatives. Level 1 is "misunderstanding of information, level 2 is emotional reactions, level 3 is lack of trust and confidence.
limitations-
-It focuses on the mindset of people working in an organization
-level 2 is a normal case and this will not play a vital role when the motivation comes
-Level 3 is a probable cause and not a persisting scenario. People inside the organization normally trust the employer.
-it is based on constructive criticism
e) Deming cycle; it is swift action of change management. It is a process or method oriented model.
limitations-
-Not suited for emergencies
-time-consuming
-Results can only be evaluvated at the end of the project or the cycle.
